Granary  
The Granary has two performance spaces; The Auditorium & The Studio which we hire to groups and individuals on a regular basis for performances, rehearsals, workshops, exhibitions and talks.
  • The Auditorium
    A Black Box performance space with complete lighting grid coverage. Seating is arranged to your specification i.e. Thrust, In-The-Round, End On, Traverse etc. There is sound playback and projection facilities and a small number of rostra for staging if required. Auditorium capacity is 150 patrons and we can provide local crew for get-ins, operation and stage management.

    Dimensions: 12m x 11m.

  • The Studio
    The Studio is equiped with a natural wooden floor and white walls. It is a bright space suitable for meetings, auditions, rehearsals, workshops and intimate performances. There are blackout blinds and a small lighting system available. Audience capacity is 60 patrons.

    Dimensions: 10.5m x 8m.

Granary operates a number of hire packages and is open to negotiation on box office splits, co-production and straight hire.

Auditorium Hire
Cost includes 1 technician, box office support, in-house equipment, heating and LX, promotion on website and direct marketing. €700 per night (Thursday – Sunday incl.)
€600 per night (Monday – Wednesday) Please note if you require additional tech/sm/foh staff this will incur an additional charge.

Studio Hire
Cost includes heating and LX, inclusion on website where appropriate, and 1 technician/supervisor on call, except for evening rental periods

• €30 per hour
• €200 for the full day 10.00 – 18.00
• €100 + cost of supervisor for full evening 18.00 – 22.00 OR €20 per hour + cost of supervisor for part thereof

Insurance

Insurance required of outside organisations, individuals or companies who wish to use the College’s premises or facilities.
Evidence of their Employers Liability (if relevant) and Public Liability insurance cover for the duration of their presence on site should be provided in advance.  The following is an outline of the evidence required:
·         A signed Statement from organisation’s insurers
·         Number of the policy under which cover is being provided
·        The amount of the full limit of indemnity should be stated.  The indemnity limits should be not less than €13m for Employers Liability and €13m for Public Liability
·         Specific indemnity should be made to University College Cork against any claim arising out of the presence of the relevant organisation on the campus
·         The renewal date of the policy and any specific exclusions or restrictions under its cover relevant to their presence at UCC should be confirmed
In addition, the organisation, individual or company should be aware that the College accepts no responsibility for loss of or damage to their property whilst on campus, unless specific arrangements are made with the College to the contrary (any such arrangements must be notified well in advance to the Secretary’s Office to ensure that the insurance and legal implications may be checked)

Submission Policy for all University Users of Granary
The Granary is a very busy theatre and much in demand by university departments, drama and other societies and individuals. In the interests of equality we have decided to initiate a submission structure for internal users of the facility. This will ensure fair and equal access to the venue for all.

Event Submission Deadlines
The dates of the deadlines will change from year to year and be published on the website. Details of all proposed events and productions for the following semester must be submitted to Granary by June 30 and December 8. Submissions must be made on the Granary Submissions Form. Forms are available from the Granary Office or by e-mail from granary@ucc.ie

Production Detail Deadlines
All production details must be submitted to the Granary Technical Manager on or before the dates specified in the hire agreement.

PR Submission Deadlines
Publicity details of the proposed event, including images where applicable, must be submitted to the Granary Administrator by the end of September and by mid December.

The Granary is a busy working theatre featuring the work of local, national and international professional theatre companies, departmental and student performance projects, teaching spaces, workshops and seminars and in-house productions. Rehearsal and teaching space is at a premium and at times the building is very busy with activities is all spaces. Because of the ever-increasing demand on the venue and in line with Health and Safety regulations, Granary is setting a policy of usage, outlined below.
  • Only designated areas may be used for rehearsals, workshops and classes.
    These are: The Auditorium and The Studio
  • Use of these areas must be booked in advance through the Granary Office
  • If using the Studio or Auditorium, please leave the rooms in a clean and tidy state. Remove all rubbish, clothing, books etc. and stack all chairs
  • Coffee/Tea Facilities are for Staff and Visiting Company use only
  • The use of the telephone, computers and photocopier is restricted and only Granary staff may avail of these facilities
  • All users must be insured.
