The Gaiety School of Acting, The National Theatre of Ireland, would like to offer your English class a unique opportunity to experience the best of Shakespeare at the Theatres situated in the heart of Cork, Dublin and Waterford City.

Our programme for Leaving/ Junior Certificate Students is designed to directly address the 2013/2014 English Syllabus Shakespeare Question. Our Transition Year Programme is designed to engage students with the works of Shakespeare by exploring text and staging in a creative, fun and alternative manner.

Our Full-Day Programme will include the following:


  • A Teacher(s)/Programme Leader consultation to establish any specific needs/requirements
  • Introduction to the website with forum, information, questionnaires/quiz etc.

On the Day

  • View a performance by our talented Repetory Company of Macbeth/Romeo and Juliet
  • Post-Performance Workshop will be lead by our experienced facilitators:

-The workshop will explore specific  Leaving /Junior Cert Questions

-Each workshop will include text analysis, role-play, physical inter-play, Mask Orientation

Our Programme is supported by who will supply an in-depth workbook which will be explored with each student by our clevernotes representatives. The workbook will also be made available as a downloadable version for teacher/student on our website.

We endeavour to offer a highly interactive and educational Programme. This unique offer is open to both Leaving and Junior Cert students at the same time. Our programme will run during the day to suit schools travelling from around the country. We are currently taking bookings for the Shakespeare Schools Programme (SSP) during September. We recommend early bookings, as spaces are limited.
