Little Gem is the story of three generations of women through an extraordinary year in their lives. The play follows Amber, Lorraine and Kay through some of the most traumatic and profound experiences of their lives and presents an honest and hilarious view of life in Dublin, Ireland.
Writer – Elaine Murphy is an Irish playwright who has won many awards for her writing. Little Gem was her first play and was extremely successful at both the Dublin Fringe and the Edinburgh Fringe.
Director – Darragh is a second year Drama & Theatre Studies student. This is his second Dramat show, after directing the ISDA award winning All My Sons last year.
Cast- Niamh Birkett is a first year Drama & Theatre Studies student playing the role of Amber. Her previous Dramat experience is in the role of Barry in the short play Cards Alight in last year’s short play festival.Ciara Hayes is a third year Drama & Theatre Studies student playing the role of Lorraine. Her previous Dramat credits include Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest.Alice Moloney is a second year Drama & Theatre Studies student playing the role of Kay. Her previous Dramat credits include playing Michael in Peter Pan.
