Set in Belfast during the Troubles, Joyriders follows the lives of four teenagers and a social worker through their experience with a Youth Work Scheme while they battle against the poverty, prejudice and violence that surrounds them.

Sandra remains consistently pessimistic about her future while Maureen, her antithesis, dreams that her life will improve. Accidently shot by the army, Arthur remains optimistic in the hopes of receiving compensation that could change his life. An adamant communist, Tommy hopes to change the country through politics. Kate, the social worker, comes from a much more privileged background and does her best to help the teenagers.

Written by Christina Reid and directed by Aisling O’Mahony.
