YOUNG GAIETY SATURDAY SCHOOL

The Young Gaiety Saturday School is the most comprehensive acting course available to young actors in Ireland. The year long programme consists of 3 separate ten-week terms. YOUTH THEATRE WORKSHOP 14-18 Yrs

This ten-week course uses drama as a medium to reflect and respond to the lives of young people. Using improvisation, participants learn to explore and enhance their imaginations. The course is both enjoyable and challenging, enabling students to express themselves in a creative and constructive manner. There is a showcase at the end of each term that parents and friends are very welcome to attend. After completion of one term in the Youth Theatre Workshop, students may audition to join our prestigious Youth Theatre Company.

Participants of Youth Theatre Workshop can expect to: be encouraged to express themselves with clarity through both voice and movement, explore and challenge their ideas and those of others within a creative and friendly enviroment, grow in confidence and exlpore their creativity experience performing in front of friends and family.

YOUTH THEATRE COMPANY

Junior: 13 – 15yrs Senior: 16 – 19yrs

The Youth Theatre Company is the most advanced and intensive training for young people in the Gaiety School of Acting. Admission to the company is by audition for students who have attended at least one year in the GSA programme. Throughout the year members of the company will not only expand their acting skills but also learn and experience firsthand running a theatre company and creating a piece of theatre. Each year the company produces a showcase of new work created by the members from scratch at the end of term one and a full length production at the end of term three. Members will be involved in all aspects; from fundraising to publicity, from writing to acting, from sound design to costume design and much more.

The Youth Theatre Company is led by experienced theatre professionals and is a great stepping stone for young people who are serious about theatre and pursuing a career in the business.IMG_0240

Junior Audition (13 – 15yrs): Saturday 21st September 4:30pm- 6.30pm

Senior Audition (16-19yrs): Sunday 22nd September 2pm – 4pm

Participants of Youth Theatre Company can expect to: experience first hand the running of a theatre company experience all aspects involved in this from fundraising to writing, designing and acting. expand their acting skills by creating their own piece of theatre to be publicly performed take part in a full-length production in a professional setting at the end of the year

MAKE A MOVIE 12 – 16 Yrs

Come join the experts as they guide you through the process of writing, acting and producing your very own film. Learn the basic principles of screenwriting, storyboarding, acting, directing and cinematography and then put them into practice. Once the film has wrapped, we then send the footage to be professionally edited and you will receive a copy of your movie on DVD.IMG_0590

Please note that this course will take place over 7 weeks with an additional full day (6 hours) shoot, possibly on location, on the following weekend. Final date to be coordinated with tutor.

Participants of the Make A Movie course can expect to: expand their own creativity in creating the movie, learn how to storyboard and write for the screen, gain confidence in front of camera, discover the importance of cinematography and production design, have fun and meet other like-minded people!

SPECIAL EASTER COURSE

MAKE A MOVIE YouthAdam and Clapper board-1

Lights. Camera. Action! Join the experts as they help you write, act, light and even do the sound in your very own movie. We then send the footage to be professionally edited and you will receive a copy of your movie on DVD. Participants of the Make A Movie course can expect to: gain confidence in front of camera, expand their own creativity in creating the movie, learn about storyboarding and screen writing, discover the importance of cinematography, practice their performance and microphone technique in front of camera
