 On the eve of JFK’s assassination, a group of marines are set to deploy to Vietnam with dreams of becoming war heroes. On this final night they decide to host a “Dogfight”. Fifty dollars in the pot, a woman on one arm and the contest is simple: the ugliest date wins you the pot. Things take a turn when golden boy Eddie Birdlace picks naïve young waitress, Rose, as his ticket to the dogfight. Eddie’s hopes to desensitize himself for the war ahead are spoiled when his true intentions for Rose are unveiled. Hurt and betrayed, Rose forces Eddie to take a good look at himself and the world around him…

Director: Emily Hutt.

Emily is a director, writer and actor from a small village in Carlow. She is amongst the first students soon to graduate from the CIT Cork School of Music with a first class honours degree in Drama and Theatre studies. She debuted as an assistant director for CIT musical society’s AIMS award winning Bare after playing title roles in the three musicals before. In March she wrote, directed and produced her own play After You Get What You Want You Don’t Want It Anymore (Theatre Development Centre, Triskel Arts Centre).

Musical Director: Michael Young.

Michael Young is the founder of NMT Productions and a graduate of the Cork School of Music with a First Class Honours Masters and BMus degree. He has been heavily involved in musical theatre for the last number of years and is thrilled to receive a national AIMS award for Best Musical Director for his work on Bare the musical with the CIT Musical Society. His recent musical director credits include Crazy for you (Cork City Musical Society), Bare (CIT Musical Society 2016) and Carrie (CIT Musical Society 2015) which won Best Event at the National BICs awards in 2015. Other musical director credits include Songs For A New World (Histrionics drama society, Limerick), The Last Five Years (Centrestage Productions, Limerick), Jekyll & Hyde (Centrestage), Miss Saigon (Centrestage), the Irish Premiere of Crusade (Belltable Theatre, Limerick), The Scarlet Pimpernel (Centrestage), Oliver (Newcastlewest Musical Society) and with his own theatre company, NMT Productions, the Irish premieres of When Midnight Strikes (2014) and LIFT the musical (2015), which he also produced.



The Cast is made up from 12 Cork based singers/actors from various backgrounds. Some are studying/have graduated from the Cork School of Music, UCC, and Colaiste Stiofain Naoife and some are due to study in the Lir, Dublin and further afield. The members of the cast have performed on every stage in Cork.
