Directing for Theatre – A Workshop with Wayne Jordan


Working with professional theatre director, Wayne Jordan, you will explore the practical strategies of directing. Taking three key scenes from three key plays, you will explore how best to use these so that the audience is drawn in, inspired and challenged.

Participants of the Directing for Theatre Workshop can expect to:

  • gain an overall perspective into the nature of the director’s role
  • learn about the rehearsal process
  • explore the use of space in theatre
  • gain experience of directing short scenes from classical and contempoary theatre
  • learn about communicating with actord and other theatre professionals
  • discuess approaches to text-based theatre

Wayne Jordan
Theatre Director

Wayne was the Associate Artist at the Abbey Theatre from 2010 to 2013. He is Artistic Director of Randolf SD|The Company and an Associate Artist of Project Arts Centre. He trained at The Samuel Beckett Centre, Trinity College Dublin. He now teaches on the MFA for Directing and the BA in Actor Training at The Lir, Ireland’s National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College. Wayne is known for his work with new writing, his large scale productions of Irish and European work and his recent work with music theatre. Productions he has directed include:
