Monday 24 September

Mr. Punch

written and performed by Dominic Moore

directed by Tina Pisco

Mr. Punch is a one man show detailing a morning in the life of Jimmy Horgan, a puppeteer who’s dream is to perform his new puppet show in the Convent School Hall, and nothing is going to stop him!

Travel with Jimmy on his quest through the characters and bizarre situations you will only find in a small town in West Cork. Employing magic, puppetry and gags aplenty, Mr. Punch is an edgy, dark comedy suitable for adults and children over 12.

That’s the way to do it, Jimmy!

Confessions Of A Swot Michael

A new solo show from Michael Mee

Michael Mee is a stand-up comedian and writer from Cork.  In a previous life he was a solicitor and law lecturer.  "Confessions of a Swot" is a one-man comedy/theatre show, which Michael performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2005.  The show is a tragicomic look at Michael's school experiences of academic success and the singling out by teachers and classroom bullies it attracted.  The Daily Telegraph described it as "an illuminating and touching study of one of the darker aspects of childhood..  by turns funny and sad.The List described it as "warm-hearted, humorous and entertaining ****"Three Weeks described it as “brilliantly funny ****."

"He is certainly on a par with Tommy Tiernan and Dylan Moran"
Dublin Event Guide

"Finely crafted one-liners, intelligent punch line ..." Edinburgh Evening News

Support on the night comes from Donnchadh O'Conaill, also from Cork and a winner of the prestigious Chortle Student Comedy award.

Gullibles Travels Gullible

written and performed by Neil O'Sullivan

directed by Jon Whitty

A tragi-comic performance peice about a man running away from himself.

This new play, is in no way an oblique comment on the plight of modern man, feeling isolated and powerless in his cubicle of quiet desperation. It does not reflect the fractured consciousness inspired by an ADD afflicted media bombardment. It thoroughly avoids echoing the spiritual malaise of the uncertain man surrounded by nonsensical certainties. Nor, it would like, in closing, does it attempt to shadow the desire to escape from the prison of self through the act imaginative self creation. It in no way fails to do any of this. Not.

Not since Martin McDonagh's 'The Pillow Man' has any Irish Writer dealt so successfully with such dark materials - The Irish Examiner.

Neil was responsible for the recent Granary/Asylum production MEAT

Jesus: The Guantanamo Years

written and performed by Abie Philman Bowman

NEWS: DUP Slams Jesus

Jesus Christ (the original stand-up comedian) returns to earth for His long-awaited comeback tour. But He doesn't get through U.S. immigration because He's a bearded, Middle-Eastern guy, prepared to die as a martyr.

Christ is detained and interrogated under the Patriot Act. He is then sent to Guantanamo Bay, which He describes as "a maximum-security prison, designed and run by Kentucky Fried Chicken: there are horrible uniforms; battery-size wire-mesh cages; and most of the staff are ignorant teenagers with no alternative career prospects."

In His first one-man show for almost two millennia, Jesus talks candidly about His time in Guantanamo, His relationship with His Father,

and His on-going legal battle with Monty Python’s Life of Brian.

" Way beyond superficial religious satire... Absorbing, intricately woven, challenging and... highly entertaining."
 - Malcolm Hay, TimeOut London

“an intriguing assault on Bushism… definitely hits a bull's-eye.”
- London Evening Standard

"Deserves a comic sainthood… Funny, thoughtful, impassioned…Required viewing for all... The greatest stand-up story ever told."
 - The Stage

"a wonderful show... intelligent and engaging comedy... One of the most talked about shows in this year's [Edinburgh] Fringe. ****"
- Three Weeks

"the face of this year's [Edinburgh] Fringe... Well-thought-out and cleverly written... a truly fresh take on the US, Guantanamo Bay and

the war on terror."
- The Scotsman.

"Displays superb humanity... destined to be a Fringe favourite... Miraculous. *****"
- The National Student
