New York. Summer 1957- a young delinquent is on trial for the murder of his aggressive father. The judge has directed the jury to find the boy guilty if there is no reasonable doubt. Eleven of the jurors declare tjhere is no reasonable doubt, but one of them, while far from convinced of the boiy’s innocence, feels that some of the evidence against him has been ambiguous. By the end of that long hot afternoon the juror has ingeniously reversed the opinion.
Reginald Rose’s classic play was revived in a new production, directed by Harold Pinter, at the comedy Theatre London, in 1996 with a cast including Kelvin Whately and Timothy West.
